Our collaborative partnership

Since Jamel loves cycling, he didn’t have to think twice about partnering up with Protest Sportswear. The design for the limited-edition unisex cycling clothing set was inspired by the strength and aesthetics of traditional costumes worn in rituals. Jamel seeks to ensure that the people wearing his clothes feel strong and connected to the deeper meaning of art and culture.

Jamel believes that his work will enrich our customers’ cycling experience. What with cycling getting more and more popular, there is a growing demand for diverse and unique sports gear.

About the collection

The limited-edition unisex cycling clothing set designed by Jamel Armand consists of a short sleeve cycling jersey and matching cycling bib shorts. His unique artistic style, characterised by rawness, unpredictability and naiveté, is on full display in the design.

Short sleeve cycling jersey: The tight, slim fit provides superb rider aerodynamics. Thanks to the three back pockets and the additional small zipper pocket, you will have enough room to bring anything you may need on the road. And what with the full-length zipper, you will easily control the amount of ventilation.

Cycling bib shorts: The cycling bib shorts provide all the comfort and protection you will need on the road. The back of the racerback-style suspenders is made of polypropylene mesh with great breathability and quick-drying performance. The front is elastic to guarantee a great fit. The fabric of which the shorts are made is knitted with elastane so as to create 4-way stretch, thus ensuring that movement is not restricted in any way. Moreover, the technical fabric is moisture-wicking and dries fast. Broad silicone grippers at the bottom keep the shorts in place and distribute pressure equally across the leg. As a result, the shorts will not pinch anywhere. The ladies’ bib shorts come with a pink chamois for an added feminine touch.

Jamel Armand discovered at a young age that he loved drawing and art. He started out with animated videos and illustrations, then carved out a diverse career for himself in photography and music videos. After creating videos for others for ten years, Jamel decided to focus on his own art again, and rediscovered his passion for painting. Jamel’s art is a modern interpretation of traditional Indonesian folk art, which provides him with an endless source of inspiration. Since Indonesia boasts more than one thousand different ethnicities, he never fails to be inspired by its rich cultural diversity.
